Rachel Lee

 

Rachel Lee works with Rethink, a New Orleans youth development organization and is very knowledgeable about the youth development landscape in New Orleans. As Rethink’s business manager she has been responsible for fiscal oversight of more than one million dollars in donations from foundations and individuals. She has organized multiple grassroots fundraising campaigns. Rachel trained with Cornerstone Theater and has a BA in Drama from Vassar College. She has done coursework in Financial Accounting at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Indee Mitchell 

indee mitchell (they/them/theirs and he/him/his) is a performance based artist interested in creating experimental and community based work that centers collective liberation and healing. Heavily influenced by DIY culture and a radical politic of resistance, indee has traveled and performed original work around the US slowly planting seeds with many BiPOC Queer and Trans communities, rural and urban alike.  indee studied Dance and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT before moving to Philadelphia, PA in 2010.  There indee continued their performance work and studies at the Headlong Performance Institute and with social justice art collectives such as Bareteeth and GenderEDGE.  

 

In 2012, indee transitioned back South to New Orleans and has since been deepening their commitment to work with Youth, especially within the LGBTQ community. Out of this commitment sprouted blaQballet: an experimental movement art initiative created for and by young Queer and Trans Black artists in New Orleans. In the fall of 2015, indee began working with LOUD as an understudy, which sparked a deeper connection and commitment with this group of young theater makers and performers.  indee has been working with LOUD since 2015.  Since rooting in New Orleans, indee has been performing with N’kafu Traditional African Dance Company, Narcisse Movement Project, and was a main collaborator of ECOHYBRIDITY: a Black Feminist Community Response to the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, under the artistic direction of Kia Lumumba Barrow.  Additionally indee is currently the co-director of Last Call: New Orleans Dyke bar history project. 

Rebecca Mwase

 

Rebecca Mwase is a theater artist, creative consultant and cultural organizer working at the intersection of art and social justice. Rebecca crafts spaces primarily for youth and women of color to gain a sense of place and identity through the creation of art. Rebecca has worked with a variety of non-profits including ArtSpot Productions, Junebug Productions, Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools, Grow Dat! Youth  Farm, KidSmART and Tulane's Office of Community Service to structure and facilitate a range of arts integrated curriculum, social justice trainings and creative workshops. Rebecca graduated from Grinnell College in 2007 with a degree in Chinese & Theater. She went on to serve as program director of Individuals relating and overcoming conflict (iROC), a theater centered character development program for middle and high school aged youth. In 2010 she received the Wall Award for her innovation with this project. Rebecca was an ensemble member of ArtSpot Productions for four years and in that time created three original works with the company. She is a co-founder of Voices Organized in Creative Dissent (VOIC'D) and LOUD (New Orleans Queer Youth Theater). Rebecca also serves as the President of the Board of Alternate ROOTS, a southern regional service organization for artists and cultural workers who create at the intersection of art and activism.

 

Evan Spigelman

 

Evan Spigelman is a performer, director, light designer and co-founder of New Orleans performance collective Skin Horse Theater.  In 2013, Evan served as a core organizer with the New Orleans Fringe Festival.  Outside of New Orleans, Evan has worked with the Ontological Hysteric Theater and Incubator Arts Project in New York City and the Design Wing of the Great Plains Theater Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.  He has a B.A. from Bard College in History and Gender and Sexuality Studies and has studied at the Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture, and Society at the University of Amsterdam. From time to time, Evan can also be seen stalking around New Orleans as his alter ego, Ms. Asa Metric.
