LOUD goes to Alternate ROOTS!

​​In August 2014, LOUD travelled with members of its inagural ensemble to Alternate ROOTS' annual retreat in Arden, North Carolina, where they were invited to perform Beyond Acceptance. This was our first touring engagement, and we couldn't have asked for a better community to perform for than ROOTS' gathering of arts workers who explore the intersections between art, community and social justice every day. In addition to the performance, we had a wonderful post-performance dialogue that allowed us to engage in a deeply meaningful conversation around LGBTQ identity and visibility and ignite an investigation of history and importance of honoring the LGBTQ history in the Alternate ROOTS community.
